I’m a Southern girl who LOVES fashion, food, and fun.
I originally hail from the Big Easy - yes, New Orleans, the land of Creole gumbo and Mardi Gras. I currently reside in Houston, Texas with my husband. We have a beautiful blended family and four out of five of our children also live in Texas.
I can’t remember a time when I didn’t love fashion. Growing up I was always surrounded by women that always dressed appropriately and looked great. I loved seeing my mother, grandmother, aunts, cousins, and friends’ mothers dressed regularly in their high-quality, classy, elegant, and professional attire. Ooh, and if it was for special occasions, you better watch out! The Southern Belle vibe was strong!
My grandmother, mother, and aunt were all seamstresses. They even made dresses for brides, their bridesmaids, and flower girls. I didn’t learn how to sew (I know, silly me) unless you count replacing a button on a shirt or hemming pants with Stitch Witchery. I did learn about types of fabrics—their quality, textures, colors, and patterns. I took great interest in the beautiful patterns they sometimes used to make the garments, and studied the outfits that appeared in catalogs. (Am I telling my age?) I would study the fabrics, thread, lace, buttons, and beads, and how beautifully it would all come together.
Fast forward to becoming a wardrobe stylist. Since I was a teenager I’ve always provided fashion advice to loved ones and strangers alike. I’m not certain how they can tell, but I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been out shopping and someone asked for my advice on a piece or outfit they were considering for purchase. It’s like I had a sign on my forehead saying, “I love fashion so ask me to help you.” All of the knowledge I gained growing up amongst seamstresses and fashionistas, eventually led me to become a professional wardrobe stylist. I’m elated that my styling career has taken me to such places as New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, Japan, and Milan, Italy.
Although professional styling is a very customized process, I follow the same working philosophy for each of my clients. I genuinely believe we should dress how we want to be addressed.
